I wouldn't dream of having a steak without a glass or two of cabernet sauvignon or zinfandel to accompany it and enhance the flavor and the pleasure of a fine meal. Some Western Canadian ranchers have taken that idea a step farther by raising their beef cattle on a diet that includes red wine!
I've never heard of wino cows untill now but I heave heard of a beef farmer who was doing the same but getting the cows plasterd on beer. I have to say, you get a good quality piece of beef and do a 24 hour marnade in a good wine it sure adds/brings out the flavour but feeding them booze? What happens when the day comes and you don't have booze for them....a bunch of AA cows going through withdralls, turning into mad cows, needing booze??? Brings a whole new meaning to cow tipping!
Puts a little twist on Contented Cows! Wonder how they(the cows) decide who's going to be the DD and lead the rest home to the barn...what am I saying they'll probably stampeed...wonder if that's how Calgary got started. I too enjoy a few hops over a few grapes with my steak, burger, chicken whatever
