i am getting started on a car for my daughter michelle..so i figured i would start a thread.. it is one just like the first car she ever rode in back in 1972 and the first car she was in a crash with (she came out without a scratch):2_thumbs_up_-_anima... i will be making a few upgrades like more powerful engine and overdrive trans other than that i want the car to look factory ..

Cool project! My first memory of a wagon was a '70 to '72 Vista Cruiser my mom and dad had when I was a kid.

No but my forefathers and five mothers crossed the Mississippi and went west in one. Dad kept tossing rotten apples along the trail.

Cool.......I think your 200 4R will bolt up to the motor you bought. I don't know about transmission lengths on Oldsmobile, but you might be able to use the original driveshaft with out modifications.
66 Wagon parts car, huh? don't happen to have any useable driver side interior quarter window trim you don't need, do you?

I know a guy who will make them for me, but won't be cheap. I hope I can find them from a donor car.

Great Project. I took my driving test in my dad's 64 F85 wagon back in '73. Think that's why I love wagons!

thanks dennis..... blackhemi sounds like you also have good memories of the old 64 f85 wagon .. my daughter dont really remember much about ours, she was just a little girl when it was wrecked.. but i really loved my old f85 (probably the brite shiny red paint).. i put a 65 model 425 engine and a new (69 model) trans in it.. was a real street sleeper in its day.. with this car i am being a little more conservative going with a warmed over 330 and 200r4. it should have enough power to give michelle a thrill and still be good on the hiway, with both drive-abilty and economy.. i have a disc brake set-up for it both front and rear with bigger sway bars and shocks. still up in the air on rear gear choice.. i did have a idea on maybe getting re-pop 442 emblems and a cold air hood scoop to give it a more sporty look but that is still just a idea
