Hi Guys, while Hubby was attempting to replace the motor mount near the crank in Lil Sis, he accidently broke the sensor and the bracket. He was able to get a new sensor but cannot find the bracket and the car won't start without it. He has determined that the engine has been changed at some point in the car's life so it is not original. The engine is a about 1992 3300. I'm wondering if anyone can get us a lead on this bracelet.
Rockauto.com has the bracket for sale for less than $10. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ition,crankshaft+position+sensor+bracket,7100
IIRC, the bracket design is common to all the GM V6s; if it isn't, shame on the engineers. But I do remember finding a customer's no start as a broken bracket (and it was a 3300 engine) and pulling the bracket from a 3.8L we had sitting in the back of the shop. Setting the proper gap is a bit of a chore, so tell your hubby to take his time, and if he's not sure about it, to do it again. It only takes one rev of the crank damper to wipe out the Hall pickups, and possibly damage the shutters on the damper's back side.
Hubby picked up the bracket today from the post office. He had her all put back together and out in the driveway when I got home from work...eee. Thank you. Maybe I'll take her to work tomorrow.
