Went to Fall Carlisle for the day today (in the rain). Not the era that interests me, but thought it was kind of unusual that there were three Colony Parks there for the auction.
I have to admit that seeing the cars that were new and in almost every other driveway when I was a kid being offered for sale as "classics" makes me feel old. It's nostalgic for me, but still, makes me feel old.
They may be called "classics," but I still think they're too new. When I look at them, I think of the fact the design is no longer is used by Detroit, and that fact is why they're called "classics."
I like the tan ‘86-‘87. That one in the middle I think is a ‘79. So it is 40. Orthmann. Sadly we are getting older. I kinda remember seeing a few of your ‘64’s around in driveways. Sure loved those CP’s new, and love them now. I think the other thing to Silvertwinkihobo’s point. We remember these cars. I think we would have considered a ‘39 a classic in 1979. A huge design difference, and most of us weren’t around to remember the ‘39’s as new cars.
I never said I was old. But yeah, forty years is a big chunk of my age, the year I started high school, yadda yadda. But it's not what number your age is, nor is it how you physically feel; it's your attitude that determines if you age, or get old.
Carlisle Auctions has results posted, but they may have more to post as there were several cars at the auction that are not on the results list yet. Two of the Colony Parks are on the list. The silver 89 with 67000 miles went for $5200. The tan 86 with 22000 miles went for $7750.
