I've owned those Dodge models when I was in high school, and the price was proportionately lower then, than they are now. And I'm fairly sure that a hobby shop now would have them a bit cheaper than that.

It depends on how much the dollar has devalued, since then. Even if the model was still more expensive, after doing the math, depending on where the newer versions are made (more than likely not in the U.S.), you could figure out which of the two are bringing higher profits for the company
