I am currently working on what is going to be one of the baddest long roofs around...

I recently crunched the front end on my 59 Brookwood, I love the ass end of a 59 chevy, but have always been a pontiac guy, sooooo instead of putting a fender and bumper on it I decided to stick a 59 Pontiac front clip on it

I have always been a wagon freak since I was a kid, but I dont have any crumb crunchers, go figure???

That would look very cool IMO. It would be a Pontiet! or Chevroliac!

    Definately it would be unique.

:Welcome:, I kinda like where you are going with this. I've seen a few intersing cool Mopar, car to car swaps (front clips) from that era but nobody has done a GM as afr as I know.

Although my comapison is of a 1962 Pontiac,
Imagine that Poncho front end WITH the front bumper and lower from the Chevy.

This is a 1:24 scale model car....done back in the early 60"s! It kinda gives you an idea of what I'm talking about for looks. Look at that smooth bumber (your 59 Chevy) with that I'm a Pontiac head lites and nostils (your 59 Poncho)

    What is this???

A couple of summers ago we went for a drive down our beautiful South Shore enjoying the day when we came upon THIS. We stopped for a few pictures, the owner came along and spoke to my husband but I was to involved with looking at this car to get the details. I don't recall what the back is but the front started out as a Dodge mini van... very interest???

    Welcome to the forum, Hoop.
I think I'm seeing a little more of this custom creativity lately - sorta like back in the late 50's where 'customizers' used whatever they had, or whatever they wanted, to give a vehicle the look they wanted. Ford parts on a Chevy - no problem. Jus make it look good. For me, the front of a '59 Chevy is pretty nice-looking in it's own right, but a '59 Pontiac front end is just as unique. As long as you don't use that ugly '60 Pontiac front end, all is OK.

A 1959 Pontilet or Pontrolet. Sounds French either way. I know a few Pontiac El Caminos have been made over the years, including a 59 that was done back in 59. It has a Pontiac rear end though. Then there have been various mid 60's El Caminos morphed into GTO's with Pontiac front clips, Pontiac wagon rear trim and tail lights and a bit of body work. But yours will be a unique creation. Chrysler did that sort of thing on a regular basis throughout the 50's for Dodges sold new in Canada. From about 53 up through 59, the Canadian Dodges like the Dodge Mayfair, consisted of a Plymouth body with Dodge sheet metal and trim from the cowl forward. Then in 63 and 64 the Canadian Valiant was a Dodge Dart body with Valiant sheet metal and trim from the cowl forward.
Similarly, DeSotos built for export around the world throughout the 50's, typically used the Plymouth body, but with Desoto sheet metal and trim from the cowl forward.
Look forward to seeing pictures of the completed Brookwood Safari wagon.

Looks like a mid 60's Chevy Suburban ambulance in the background in your photo. Theres a classic episode of Get Smart that uses an ambulance just like that (after strapping Max to a stretcher a forcing him on the stretcher through a revolving door, they load him into the ambulance, only to have the stretcher roll out the back and into the path of a truck with Max still strapped in.) Interesting ambulance. Great old TV show.

Ive seen that as well, yes it "was" a caravan then it went to a cut down pick up, than it "evolved' to this.

I think the roof comes off as well.

Fannie, Apears to be a old Ambulance, the hood is Chevy, not GMC and the grill looks Chevy (single lamp compared to dual). No wrap around front windshield sooo it has to be a 64-66 Chev panel/ambulance, 1/2 ton most lickely with 6 bolt wheels. 3/4 ton and up were much longer wheel bace and body from rear wheels back. Very cool unit for sure(y)
