Why haven't the Prius folks figured out they fell for a scam? Initial cost is way over the price of the same car with a gas only engine for what you get. The battery, when replacement comes along, will cost a fortune. If you've got a paid for gas guzzler it's cheaper to keep then to go into debt buying into their scam.
Yep. Yep. And Yep. When people were running around paying stupid mark-up to get a Prius, there was a piece that came out showing just how expensive gas would have to be and for how long, before (you) would make-up the purchase price and insurance cost of a Prius. It was pretty substantial. Cars like the Honda Fit and Nissan Versa were more economical. Prius was something like 4th or 5th on the list. Now, it may have been somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear said that a Prius is also more harmful to the environement because of manufacturing. The material for the batteries is mined in Canada - shipped to China - turned into batteres - shipped to Japan - put into a car - and then shipped around the world. But hey, even if they don't look good, they feel good....
but they're helping SAVE THE PLANET !!! You can't do it any other way...No,really...ALL OF US have to buy Priuses---or the planet will die a horrible death... Spinning off it's axis, wobbling around the solar system and bouncing off of Mars and/or Venus like a drunk pinball...
"On the eighth day the earth tilted and everything loose fell into California"! Sorry Taranau! I just couldn't pass that up! Your humor sounded sooo.....Left coast!
Don't write off the whole state,,,there's even a section(in the Central Valley, some people stereotype as being just like Kansas and Missouri...
Here it is. Norm's the guilty one that strayed and got this on to Priuses. Aha! I knew it. Of course this thread needed to be hi-jacked. But, back to the subject at hand can you imagine a field of 30 Priuses in a demolition derby. Oh the humanity! The toxic cloud from burning batteries and electrocuted people.
You raise a good point, Steve. What's in those batteries for electroylte? What kind of acids? What kind of damage to people and aquifers? (hi-jacked again...)
they ARE supposed to be really safe to be in,in an accident...Next time a bubbahead asks which car they should use in their next demo-derby---the answer is a Prius!
