The following guide will demonstrate how to resize many pictures in one shot using the FastStone Photo Resizer, a free image converter with no spyware or adware. Download the image converter from here: http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm (Direct link: http://www.faststonesoft.net/DN/FSResizerSetup35.exe) I strongly recommend that you resize a copy of your pictures and keep your originals as a backup in case you make a mistake when resizing. Furthermore, If you want to print the pictures at a later date, use the original high quality pictures as they will produce better prints. Install and run the utility Click on the Source dropdown and select the folder with the pictures you want to resize (make sure you have the originals in a safe place in case you make a mistake!) Select the pictures to resize and click on Add (or click on Add All to process the entire folder) Set the Output format to JPEG Images (*.jpg) Select the Output folder (You can use the Source folder as the Output folder) Click on the Use advanced options checkbox and click on Advanced Options button that appears In the screen that appears, select the Resize tab Select the Use Resize/Resample checkbox Enter the width and height (1024 * 768 is a good size) Click on the Preserve Aspect Ratio checkbox Click on the Do not resize when the original size is less than the new one checkbox Click OK Optionally, you can have the program rename your files that will be resized. To do so, select the Rename checkbox and enter the new name followed by at lease two '#' signs. The '#' sign will be replaced by a sequential number. In this example my new pictures will be named MyCar0000, MyCar0001, MyCar0002, etc. Click Start A progress screen will pop up and show you the size of the new files. The new pictures can now be uploaded to the forum.
Hi, you could also use an online resizer that I used to make the photos I uploaded into the gallery. Here's the address http://www.shrinkpictures.com/. It doesn't take very long to do and I usually use 600 pixels and best picture quality and the pictures are only about 1/10th the original size. For example, a picture I did yesterday is 107kb but it was originally well over 1mb in size. Just something to think about. and it's free to use
Gee, this was put up in 2006 and I'm only now paying attention to it? Must have been hibernating for 7 years..
I'm going to try that program. With new Win 8 my old Picture-It 2000 is slightly outdated. It still works....sometimes after much cussing and retrying. All newer photo programs I borrow don't seem to work. Thanks guys. It worked and does not take long to do. I used this--------- www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm My only problem was I temporarily lost my new detination album in the folder I took pictures from. . Once I found it I moved it to my main PICTURES .
You could simply do it on your own computer, before uploading. Shrinking the image 60% usually suffices for big pics
As was mentioned about not working on the original image you must also consider changing the name of the file for each picture . Other wise you may very well lose your original anyway . Best regards, Wizzared
I just go to Tiny pic .com: http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload Choose the "Message board, 640 X 480" option, and upload, copy and paste, and the photo appears. Easy peasy.
I just go to Tiny pic .com: http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload I forgot. I use that one too. But mostly an old Picture-It program from 2000. Seems like the new programs I beg from the kids don't work on Win 8.
Thanks Stefan. I did download that one when you first posted this. I really haven't used it much but saved it to my screen.
