Everyone remember auction starts tonight from Scottsdale, 7PM EST I believe. It will also be streamed live apparently on speedtv.com. Here's a 58 Buick Cabalerro that site says will go on block approx 7pm Wed, not sure if thats EST or MST though? http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appl...list.aspx?aid=403&sd=01/17/2011&ed=01/24/2011
i dont watch it. it complete waste of time! when i could be doing some good, like play with my own cars instead.
They did a special "Bridgestone" segment previewing the Cabalerro tonight(Tues) before its appearance on Wed. Looks like a beautiful wagon, the first Buick Estate Wagons(badge on tailgate)?
That '64 Ford Falcon Squire wagon sold for $27,500, good to see 60's wagons finally getting some respect. I Tivo the show then watch it, a 6 hour show takes about a half hour to watch if you skip all the fluff and commercials. I always watch, it really helps me deal with the feared and dreaded Cabin Fever this time every year. I sit down with a freshly boiled shoe and gnaw on the leather and watch, like going to a car show but the food is better.
I'm SOOOOOO jealous!!! Home you have a great time. I know it's not a wagon, but I'd love to see pics of the copper Cougar...
azblackhemi, I made the trip ONCE!!!!!!!!! WHAT AH CIRCUS, AND YEAH GOTTA PAY $40 NOW JUST TAH WATCH? Couple exits south on the other side of the freeway from that Circus theirz an all weekend cruise in that takes up the whole shopping Center where the "bench Racing" iz free and the folkz are way more friendly! 'Course if you live there I guess you know all about that Cruise In. Too bad I'm 2000 away or that Cruise In would be an annuall must do
The cruise at the Pavillions is a year round event. Of course it gets bigger during the auctions but it's pretty impresive anytime. I go to Barrett Jackson every year. It's a circus for sure but it's a heck of a car show with alot of other interesting thing to see. Everything related to the classic car hobby is represented in the Vendors Midway. You can see everything from lifts, rotisseries, garage storage units, motorized bar stools and even get quotes from the classic car insurance companies. Forty dollars isn't cheap but to me it's well worth it for a full day of great entertainment.
True enough, I guess I just have issuez with Mr. Jacksons No Reserve policy. Ask the guy that pumped over a 100 Grand into a toy resto and has to out bid the dude that wants it for letz say 75 grand. Mr. Jackson still collect commissions on both ends of the sale at 76 grand from the seller-buyer or the seller bites the bullet for 25 grand plus commissions. All because the B+J auction house has that "NO RESERVES" policy and that auction house iz the only one I know of with that policy. No Thanks, he'z fat enough without my $40. I'd rather put it in the tank and blow it out the exhaust
I'm really suprised so many people are willing to risk it with no reserve. There are other auctions in town at the same time with reserves. I guess I'm just not a gambler.
Yeah....I'm with you, hemi. I'm not rolling the dice on a car I have money in. I watched that Caballero go through....last I saw it was up to 40K I think. Not bad for that old guy's gamble. I really liked that chrome laden classic. It was everything the 50's was all about in cars.
A fellow my brother was close to took a '67 Chevelle, real nice low miles super clean loaded car down. Paid more bucks for a prime time spot, took their advice and had the car professionally detailed (I'm sure BJ got a cut on that). Then they ran late as some of the cars weren't selling that they needed to get bigger commissions on, and so his car came up while the BJ sponsored dinner was on and the buyers with the money were out partying it up. No recourse, car went for low bucks, he lost on it. He didn't realize, being a novice, that he could have bid on it himself, and would have lost some money, but not nearly what he did. I'm just not a fan. I agree with you guys, theres other auctions on with reserves and in my mind, a bit more class and less gaudy stuff, that if I had to put a car to auction I'd be more willing to consider.
