I guess it's time, I've heard enouph from everyone about "get er dun" for long enouph. I almost got rid of her 12-13 years ago but my girlfriend at the time now my wife wouldn't let me.... It's sat since then+. I have no pic of the car today as I am un-hording my garage and to be very.."" the Cat is buried in stuff, very buried and fogotton you could say. I promice I'll post pics next weekend when I have some what de-horded and you can see it's a all steel rust 99% free shell....it's in a million pieces yet in it's currant state looks , well it like crap! Big Kudos to my Daughter, she brought up "dis 'n' Dat" questions etc and I said "I wish I had a pic, I know I took some"...the only pic left of back in the day, my 67 shortly after I bout it. "She got it from Grandma (my Mom) when she was little" she said........ 1982 pic, $550 for my first car at age 15. All my own $( was a different world back then)......... did alot of miles up and down the drive way till I was 16 and some say, allegedly I may have gone for a drive now and then...,, although in my faters name at the time because I was to young to insure, I had to insure it for one year at my cost because dad wouldn't have it any other way...With the help of Mom that changed and I had cars all over the place (as if anythiung has changed) but when ya get older your memorie fails so maybe I just dreamed about driving it...on the road....while dad was out of town, as allways.... She sure doesn't look like that now!. Dark green on lite green interiour, power drum brakes all around, power stearing, AM radio, and re-tread bias ply tires all around........Yup, I was in my glory..... Those hub caps.... They have shared life with many a car/wagon and are on my 82 Crwezer rite now. In 86 I had removed all chrome and took care of a whole bunch of parking lot door dents with the plan of a new paint job. My Girlfriend got pregnant.....have no idea how that happened, so the cat got a nasty rattle can primmer and I started buying baby stuff and hording $$. 1986 Was the last summer I drove it and put it up on blocks in my parrents garage where it sat for years. I'll post up pics of now and the de-dusting by next weekend Here is another pic my grown up little girl kept via my Mom, My little one beside our only 351 2V windsor 69 Cougar...long sold now. My Mom's hand writing on the back...1994. pics of the barn cat to follow
So, you had two Cougars but sold one, or you had two daugthers but sold one? Didn't know you could do that in Canada. I do like the 67-69 Cougars, and would one day like a 67 or 68 myself. But don't tell anyone. I'm a Mopar guy but I've already been accused of being a closet Ford guy. Back in about 1970, when I was about 10 years old, my older cousin from Oregon came east to stay with us for a year or two. He bought a (non-metallic) powder blue with blue interior, 67 Cougar and drove it back to Portland at the end of his stay with us. I loved that blue Cougar.
I grew up in a 70, got my 67 in 82. since then I have had 2 (total) 67's, 4 68's and the one 69...and a ton of extra parts back when.... you could still find parts for cheap that were not thrashed.....now you can buy new if you got the $$$$...who would have thought..... Sell the kid....wish i knew, but as things turned out glad I kept her
I love those early Cougars, particularly the first ones - '67's - '68's. Don't care as much for the '69''70's with the swoopy side sculpting. I thought Mercury did an excellent job with the styling of the first Cougar, particularly with the interior. If you put a '67 Mustang, even with a deluxe interior side-by-side with a '67 Cougar, there's no comparison at all. Beautifully done...... And I'll take a 7 litre GT-E....
The one year only 68 GT-E was the best looking of the 67-68 Cougars and probably the quickest. But, since it wasn't available with A.C., many of the luxury pony car buyers didn't buy it, so its a rare cat indeed.
Geeze, Fat! That's my car! Mine was an XR7 and I bought it right out of the showroom window. Same color as yours. Dark green. Mine had a brown leather (vinyl) interior but there was kind of a goldish green tint to it if that makes sense. I loved the car and the color of it. That first pic sure brings back memories!
Yup, I know what you meen. Mine origonally had that lite green (sea foam?) colour interiour. I swapped it out for wreaked black 67's when I was 17 I think, and donated the 67's origonal interiour for a 68 that I later sold. Kinda was fun sorting through all the junk, I have hords of extra parts to chose the best of the best from. Looking foreward to cleaning it up this winter, drag it out, turn it around, yank the 2v 289 and trans out and detail up the engine bay, along with disc brake convertion and puting the 9" in. My vition for the future, I have the same rims but they are nt the magnum 500's. Mine are the 70's steel ones with beauty rims.
