Anyone near the town of Barker, NY, which looks like it might be maybe 20 minutes west of Niagara Falls? There is a non-wagon that I'm wanting to get a look at. The owner is well into his 80's and isn't too savvy with that new fangled computer thing or emailing pics.

I'm about 120 miles from there but, alas, my passport expired a while back and I don't have a new one yet. :banghead3: No trips into the U.S. for me. Sorry.

Denny and the others, thanks so much. I'm really appreciative of your offer to help. Here's an update: After speaking with the owner a few times I took a gamble and made the drive myself. About 450 miles with my dad and two of my kids. I figured we would make it a long weekend vacation and see Niagara Falls and check out the van too. If it's as advertised we planned on driving her home. We left Friday the 13th and made it to Niagara by dinner time. We had a tentative agreement to buy her but after checking her out on Friday night I finalized the sale. That night and the next day we were at the falls, went back Saturday afternoon to pick up the van and bring her home. So, I'm the new owner of a '64 Corvair Greenbrier! She's copper with a white belt line, fawn vinyl interior, three rows, four speed and 65K miles which appear original. She did have a respray maybe 10 years ago. Anyway, the trip home was fairly uneventful, except for an occasional overheating and a weak starter that cropped up whenever the engine was hot. On the way home we met some great people and made a bunch of stops for gas and food. One memorable stop was in a town called Tully, NY, which is along Rt. 81. south of Syracuse. We stopped in for dinner and gas and coincidentally they were having a car show Saturday night and we jokingly said how we won the van class as we were the only van there. The following day we got the van home and relaxed. I've got to say that the van ran pretty well and was fairly comfortable even in the 90 degree heat. I will say however that I was constantly nervous driving this thing since I just not used to being part of the crumple zone. A strange feeling for sure. Anyway, after getting her home I was able to pull the hatch and look over the engine. I found the fan belt was loose and one spark plug wire was off. After fixing both, I ran her down the highway at 70 MPH in 95 degree heat and had no overheating problems. Pretty easy fix for no money. Just the way I like it!

Here's a pic of the previous owner taking the van down his driveway for the last time. He sure was pretty sad.

Great looking van, and to make the trip with a plug wire off says a lot about its condition.

I always had a soft spot for these vans and the wagons as well. They just have a neat look about them.

    More pics would be great............:camera:

What a great story! Hopefully you'll be able to keep in touch with the prior owner with any updates. I know he'd love to hear how you guys use and enjoy the van. We had a 63 Monza convertible in the family when I was a kid, ours was a white body/white top/red vinyl interior, 4 speed, absolutely beautiful car we enjoyed very much. That van looks great! :thumbs2:
