Just picked up a "1973 Ford Galaxy Country Sedan Wagon" and please correct me if that model description isn't correct. Her name is "Wally" after the green Monster at Fenway park. She ain't pretty and has plenty of scars. (429 4V) We are still learning about the Wagon and have lots of questions.
Looks like a Country Sedan. Can’t tell by the picture, but if it’s got any wood trim on the inside it’s a Galaxie Country Sedan. If there’s no wood-tone appliqué on the doors or dash it’s a Custom 500 Ranch wagon. Neat car regardless. That also looks like a ford emblem on the grill. Not sure if the Customs had that.
Welcome to the group! Looks like a fun project you've got there. What are your plans for her? or him? lol Pete
"Wally" short for Wallamina" lol. I'd like to get some period rims and tires, maybe touch up the paint, but mostly we want to drive her and go to car shows. Eventually sell it and get a nicer older version.
Welcome aboard Vangoat. Looks like a very solid car you have there. The 429 is an awesome engine. They were starting to get choked down a bit with emissions by 73, but still a very, very good engine with lots of potential. Just don't expect to ever get good fuel economy. Instead of "miles per gallon", you'll need to measure things in "Smiles per gallon".
The wheels/rims and wheel covers are correct for the car/year. Also if you go to automotivetouchup.com they can match the paint exactly based off your trim code on the door. They sell touch up size, as well as spray. They’re based in Louisiana, and the nicest folks. They’ll set you up.
