Outside the few in the late production run with the expensive Insta-Clear Windshield option, would the glass from any year work in my 90? I'm just curious, nothing's broken.
I don't see any changes at all in the greenhouse design on those, so my guess is that it's all interchangable. Only thing to watch out for is the front door glass, as there was a vent glass option in the early years. You might want to stop by a Ford dealer - one that's been under the same ownership for a lot of year, that might have access to the old parts books, and also maybe have an 'old parts guy' (talking about the guy, not the parts) - who knows what he's talking about.
One other point to bring up is that sedan and wagon rear doors are differently-shaped, so the two pieces of glass in each door will not fit the other.
^^^ Well, you learn something new every day..... Without checking, I had assumed the rear doors were the same. Looking at pics now, I clearly see they are different. The rear window frame on the sedan door is slanted forward more than it is on the wagon. Sedan: Wagon:
In that case, only the small phoney vent window is different. The movable rear door windows should be identicle. If it isn't the slight change would have been an unneeded production change expense
Even though your statement is logical, those pieces are actually different on the rear edges by about 15-20*. I compared a sedan and a station wagon window and tbat difference was definitely there.
That was the late night "I don't want to appear to be doing a damned thing for anybody" problem. I'll go ahead and delete the extras.
No! Please leave them there or nobody will know what I wrote about and why. I was having the same load-up problems, earlier
