There's a lot of these Vega / Astre V-8 conversions around. I'd be a bit leery about them, as to how expertly the conversion was done (good welding, etc...)

Take a look at this one. Engine compartment looks pretty sanitary. Look closer. No fan blades. How does this thing keep cool? (Don't think there's enough room for electric fans in front of the radiator...)

The fan has to be infront, there is a fair bit of "air" space from the rad to the bumper in those little things.

if you arent runnig air you can squeeze an electric in front. If you do the swap right you can run a regular fan. My friend has a Vega wagon w/ SBC and he has a flex fan. Factory V8 monza's came with a clutch fan on a short pump. Thats the way to go. IMHO.

I am sick of these things w/ SBC's. I put a 2.5 tbi w/ T-5 in my sunbird and I love it. I am going to a 3.8 Gen2 from a 4th gen firebird next. I would love to get an Astre Wagon but they are either too rotten or too expensive. So I am staying with my sunbird for now.
