    I'm guessing the Falcon was a stripped down version of the Torino. There's almost no chrome whatsoever on that wagon. Pretty cool car. I'm sure Torinobros can fill us in on any details.

    I have always heard the 70 1/2 Falcon was a stop gap until the Maverick could make it to the dealership. Even though it was an intermediate and not a compact, Ford decided to keep the Falcon name alive. Using a stripped Torino renamed as a Falcon was thought to work because the Falcon badge already had name recognition. Coming up with a new name for a half year model that would be discontinued soon might cause confusion with potential buyers.

    Sure don't see many of them. A wagon has to be rarer still.

    actually...the Falcon/ Fairlane stuff ...turned into the Torino:yup:
