    Before pics

This is a 66 Mustang I built for my wife for her dailey driver.

    PICT0056.jpg
    It has a 200 I6 3sp
This project is a whole new suspension, front & rear.
I work by my self so I cant really get the "as I do it" kind of pics but
    here's some to start.
    Before.

You can see the spring perches are toast.

I gutted the whole front end last Sunday,

    Here's the bones:evilsmile:

You can see the difference in the height of the new springs.
This will lower the car about 1'' for better handling.
The size of the wire is much bigger than the old springs witch will compress
    much less.
    PICT0066.jpg

The front sway bar on the mustangs were only 11/16'' thick
and didn't hold the tires down on the highway very well when cornering
allowing the opposite side to lift.
With a 1'' sway bar will take care of that (y)
    PICT0060.jpg
The shock towers look in good shape (y)
    PICT0062.jpg
Well that all the pics I have for now, I will have moer on Monday.

Now that's a nice project. It looks like the car is very solid saving you from lots of extra work.

    Are you keeping the six?

I'm liking this Car & Truck talk sub-forum. It ought to get busy with all the non-station wagon projects we have going on.(y)

    Thanks tbird
The car was taken down to bear metal, no rust.
The body man said it was the cleanest 66 he had ever seen.

The six will stay, I rebuilt it about 56000 ago.
It always had a crappy carb but they now have a new one that is part of my plan (y)as well as T5 trans. Those 2.77 were dog doo :(

Ford Nut, is your wife's '66 a 289 car? I ask because I have a '66 with the straight 6. I've done a lot to it over the 20 years I have had it, but working on it stalled out on the front disc and T-5 swap. I currently have the Ford SVO rear discs on it, and a 3.03 3 speed mated to the six (which is running 3x1 barrel Weber carbs). I'd be interested in the work you are doing on the Mustang.

Along with the wagon I've got a german sports car, and the Mustang.

    Bill
