I don't think there's anything sinister going on. He just took all his photos with the camera held vertically. He gives full views of both the front and back ends.

Looks like a very nice car. Wonder what his reserve is.

That turquoise color was a very popular one for Ford in '63. I've mentioned before my dad's buddy who bought a new '63 500XL hardtop (trading in his '57 Fairlane 500 HT, which was spotless). His was this color.......
    - Looks even better in real life.

    I bought this car.

I flew out from Oakland CA on Tuesday - to Vegas - took a shuttle to the middle of the desert. Met Lloyd Wednesday AM and drove the car home.

The first day I drove from the Mohave desert to San diego (350 miles) 95 degree heat.

The only problem I had was the AC was not working and the power steering threw up and quit.

The second day I drove to San Luis Obispo - about 240 miles.
The car cruised at 70 MPH along highway 1 and 101, right on the California coast.

The third day I made it to the Bay Area - about 230 miles.

I see some leaks in my driveway - I think from the power steering.

Going to drop the car off at my mechanic to have him look at everything - but given I just drove the car 800 miles without it overheating or breaking down is a good sign!

And it is very, very clean.

Welcome IRMB. Looks like you got a decent wagon.:1st: Great way to road test it.
Apparently the previous owner likes turquoise by the looks of his other vehicles in the photos.
Now run over to the The Welcome Wagon and introduce yourself to the group.

The guy I bought it from is a car guy - he fixes cars and flips them. I didn't see any other teal cars at his place.

He did have a 64 Galaxie 500 with a pumped up 289. And he had a 57 chevy convertable. And a few others.

I got all repair records from the previous owner (2 owners ago). It's had almost everything done to it - brakes, fuel pump, oil pump, glass, new power steering, u joints, shocks, tires, transmission rebuilt, etc.

Sounds like you have a pretty solid car get the minor things looked after and enjoy it.

Congrats on the purchase of what appears to be a very, very nice Galaxie! (y)

I envy your drive home on Hwy 1 and 101!

Too bad about the A/C. But having the original Select-Aire unit is a real bonus. And you can probably get it working again.

It looked super clean in the eBay ad!

I was able to fix the power steering while in San Diego.

And the seller gave me a brand new AC compressor - he just had the wrong pulleys on it. So I should be able to get the right pulleys and get it installed fairly easy.

    Here's some pics I took. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10206845665520731.1073741830.1249355418&type=1&pnref=story

    Super congrats:yippee:
Is a beauty. Always some old car bugs to exterminate, then good to go.

Just out of curiosity, IMRB, how did you find out about this car? Craig's List? eBay? Or the SWF? :)

I do global craigslist searches for stuff.

go to google type in "site:craigslist.org" and then enter what ever you're looking for.

Recently I decided to look for a "surf wagon" and was looking around the country. I figured I could buy one somewhere - and drive it home - and make a trip out of it.

I was originally looking at fords and mercurys between 57 and 59 - but realized that the 63's look really good, too.

After I decided to buy the car, then I started researching the owner - just to see if I was going to be safe meeting a stranger in the middle of the desert, with a ton of cash in my pocket.

    That's how I found this thread. :)
