hi guys, Looking for a new wagon. Found this little guy on craigslist. Anybody have any opinions of the car? He sent me pictures of the interior and the floors look great. Thanks, Seth http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-N...af817833:g:gcMAAOSwy5ZXBxj-&item=131793516595
I don't know what it is worth, but Chevy II and Nova wagons have been creeping up in price quite a bit over the last several years. If it is as nice as it looks in the pictures he might not be far off.
Car obviously looks nice, all restored - obviously. How familiar are you with Chevy II's, though? This one's the first year, with a 194 6-cylinder, and a 3-speed manual transmission. It will have NO performance. It will have no power steering, no power brakes. It will have 4-lug wheels (no disc brakes, either). Not trying to dissuade you from buying it, just explaining that you are going to have a very basic wagon. There are other options out there.... http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5525682842.html?lang=tl http://tricities.craigslist.org/emd/5517999207.html Not necessarily pushing Fords, just showing there's lots of wagons out there. you might want to do Craig's List searches for other makes - Pontiacs, Mercurys, Buicks, etc...... And, not in the same league, but I'd bet you could get this AMAZING Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park for less than $11,000..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-Mercur...RK-/141967498015?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
My plan is actually retain the three on the column, replace the 194 with an LS, install air-conditioning power steering and disc brakes. I'm sort of looking mostly for a car to turn into a hot rod. I'm currently driving a 1953 Chevy pick up that I've done the same thing too. It's my daily driver.
Nice base for a LS Swap. NOT an expert on transmissions but the original 3 speed might not be strong enough for the torque of an LS..
You might want to take a look at this one. Would most likely accept an LS swap a lot easier than the Nova.... $10,500 .......... https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5562657227.html
