"We rescued it from a group of hippies that were never going to do anything with it." What, did they travel back in time to 1967 to rescue it from the "hippies"? Is there a long-lost tribe of hippies in the Oregon woods? I thought they all died out around 1976 or so. Anyway, interesting van. Looks like something the Charles Manson family might've been driving. IH body on a Dodge Durango chassis with 5.7L hemi engine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-Intern...EEL-DRIVE/292259063431?&_trksid=p2041548.m738
The IH medallion on the airbag is a nice touch. But they better have de-activated the SRS, or else that medallion will be embedded in your face or neck.
I dig it! It hasn't been slammed to the ground or chopped. I would try to find some more period correct wheels with dog sish hub caps, if possible.

Maybe large chrome reverse wheels, baby moons, and white white walls................... or modern 17" Cragers. Paint the thing bright red with white pin stripes and belt line. That's no hippy van. It's a retired milk or other delivery van. Hippys would have had flowers on it and torn it up by now. I see no evidence of blood dripping out so doubt it belonged to those loveable Manson folks. I always liked the gauges like my 04 Dodge truck had. $15,000 and that's my final offer!
You guy don't like the black track days wheels on this one? I wonder why? It is an interesting conversion though. Less than a hour to go on the auction interesting to see what it sells for
I wouldn't pay it, but I figured it would be in the $20k range. Rusty Metros are selling for $5k and up. Factor in the cost of an AWD Hemi Durango and the amount of work to combine the two vehicles, it's technically a deal. It would cost much more if you had to pay someone to do the conversion if you owned the Metro and the Durango. A buddy of mine works for a fab shop and they bought a Metro in rough shape. I'm not sure wht they paid, but the asking price was $5,900. They also bought a wrecked F150 with and 3,5L Ecoboost and are going to mate the two.
Interesting to see if it actually sells for that amount, the winning bidder only has 2 feedback points? I wonder if its the seller shilling?
It's in great shape and has a lot of the rare chrome. I'm thinking the bumpers are not original but they look good on it.
Quite a lot of hippies here in Oregon, actually. And they're all 'original' ones, and all over 60 years old....... Got Hippie Children and Hippie Grandchildren, too.
