I have a 59 ford wagon. I'm toying with the idea of installing gas struts on the rear window. The original sliders were missing when I bought the wagon. Haven't found replacements. Has anybody done this?

It's an interesting idea, and you'd likely need two strong struts to lift it up, but have you looked around for replacement sliders first?

Another question is, what are your plans for the wagon? Is it going to be a daily driver? Is it a hot rod? Are you hoping to restore it?

I have rodded it out. Stroked Windsor 408, beefed up AOD trans, 350 posi rear end, power discs. Many updates. Planning to paint it 1968 mustang highland green metallic.

Isn't that the color the Bullitt Mustangs were painted? If so, that'll be a choice color for it. And your drivetrain needs to be in my '79 Ranchero....

Yup, sure is the color. The Windsor is pumping 460hp @ 5800 rpm and 490 torque @ 4200 rpm on the dyno.

That's fantastic! I would say that the gas struts would be right at home on a car like this.
