There are plenty of total idiots, out there. That's why I'd be scared to drive vintage vehicles, these days. Must have been a pick-up or S.U.V., judging that the bumper suffered no damage. Utility vehicles belong off-road and not in urban areas.

That has to be heartbreaking. Depending on frame damage, redoing it or using the good parts at a fair price will put another car back on the road.
Most states have bumper highth laws but not many jacked up trucks I've seen conform. When we drive an old vehicle we try not to think about accidents. We all know most accidents are really careless fools and the world is filled with them.
The latest wagon accidents appear to have been caused by lifted trucks or at least a vehicle with chrome bumpers. Can plastic nosed cars do that? I'm sure they would be totalled also.

No frame damage likely. It isn't a unibody. The Goofball was likely texting. Cellphone use in traffic should become a capital crime. Not only are historical vehicles endangered. I've been almost run over by some Jack-off-Jerk suddenly changing lanes while texting. He didn't even observe his surroundings. If we have had a 2nd amendment, in this "Allied"-designed failed state, he would have been lucky, if I had missed his useless pea-sized brain and just popped his rear window. You know, when cops want to prove cellphone use, during vehicle movement, all they'd have to do is to locate GPS- and time protocols. It's all there and stored for eternity. If they don't use the forensic information available to them, then they're just lazy and should also be capitally punished for rendering an investigation of this sort vain.

One of the few smart things Ontario has done is to ban texting while driving. Hear stories about police officers standing on street corners at stop lights watching for people texting at the light. Officers have to wave at drivers, then finally rap knuckles on window to let driver know they're about to get a ticket.

He painted the WHOLE car, except the hood, leaving the patina.
    - I just don't understand this.......... Either the whole car should look old, or the whole car should look new. Take your pick.

It's a pretty good-looking car (except for the hood, which I agree makes no sense at all). For $2,250 it would be worth trying to save.

That very thing happened to me. But I wasn't texting. I was turning on the bluetooth to play some songs sitting on the gardener expressway in stop and go traffic. I was stopped. Cop walks into middle lane just as I was rolling up another car length. $350 Canadian. About $225 us! I didn't argue the semantics of texting vs playing music. I think their law is specifically 'handheld devices' regardless of the action.

I just think if handheld devices are banned, so should EATING behind the wheel and applying make up.

Over here, the fine amounts to only 60€, if the cop even bothers stopping someone. They raised it 20€ over last year's price. No wonder, so many people still text.

As far back as I can remember I've eaten and drank non-alcholic beverages while driving. Sometimes complete meals. I never use drive-thru's but stop when traveling and bring our own cooler of food often. Saves lots of time when trying to get someplace . In fact with the motorhome my wife has prepared meals and everyone aboard eats as I travel at a high rate of speed among other fools.

I used to talk non-stop on my CB radio and change stations manually on the radio in the middle of the dash.
At all times I watched the road and never had as much as a fender bender or scratch. The real problem is these cell phone users are brain dead to the outside world. Most likely watching porn videos or movies, maybe flirting with the neighbor's wife.

I have never applied make up but have combed my hair. We don't have a Smart phone so even at home it's only used to talk to people.
Many now don't even have a home computer and the Smart phone becomes the computer. I believe this causes the most distractions. Their driving patterns show how distracted many are.

Just don't make me put down my Big Mac and hot coffee!

believe car is worth about 20 grand restored, appears to be fixable and stay under the value.
I personally hate cell phone; emails; texts and answering machines!
but as a business owner, it's a fact of life today - have to have all of the above much to my chagrin.

It's easy enough to pull over to the roadside, when the telephone rings. There shouldn't be laws against doing that, as far as I know.

All my kids have hands free phones. They just drive and talk to the dash. Even to call they just say "call dad".

Even that set up distracts too many people with short attention spans who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.:rofl2:
Walking out to look at that wagon must be heart breaking for the owner.

When I first saw people doing that, I thought they were freshly unjacketted nutcases. It later dawned on me that the dash didn't answer because it was expected to, Sir.
