There was a very nice '53 Chevy Wagon in the Car Corral at the Pate Swap Meet being offered for $22,500. Makes me happy I already have one.
Don't foget burry it jackstone and Nada as the pioneers....Nada book value...Nada chance you'll get that Whats that song,,,,,"Hold on tite to your dreams"
No doubt both these 53 Chevy wagons are beautiful, as are many others. But worth $22,000? I suppose everything is worth what someone with lots of money has to pay. But it has made the old car hobby for shade tree mechanics who really love old cars difficult today. Most are bought by investors who don't know a carburator from an alternator!
I agree and it saddens me. It's the same with everything, though...the money guys get involved and the hobby is out of reach of the true hobbyist. I have watched wagons, and other cars for that matter, climb to ridiculous sales prices. And, as you say, the ones that buy them are looking for profit and have no feeling for the machine.
Now that is pretty. Just the way I enjoy seeing a wagon being used - hooked up and ready to head down the highway.
This is the same wagon after I drove around the boonies here for a week. A good buy if you want it silverfox. Still only $19,999.
