Definitely a time capsule. I stopped by and looked at it and it's basically a new car. Didn't check the ac or anything. Thankfully no salesman saw me! https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/ctd/d/vista-2000-saturn-sw2-1-owner-clean/6828973458.html
Good Looking example, you will have around 40,000 more miles to go before the twin cam engine starts using oil, the valve guides are just to short on these engine and wear, but other than oil usage they are much preferred over the SOHC version that doesn't usually use oil, but also makes almost no HP. I can't stand an ad with no asking price, always makes me move along.
$5495 according to the dealers website: https://www.classicchariots.net/use...e-ca-vin-1g8zn8275yz177484-p-5450-id-28545631
No drain back holes in the oil control ring grooves in the pistons is usually the culprit on these. The oil control ring gets all carboned up and sticks and suddenly you are burning a lot of oil. I'll probably address this on my wife's '98 SW2 before it gets much higher in mileage (at around 100k right now), but sadly it is too late for my '95 SW2. Nice looking car in the ad. Only thing wrong with it is it is missing a pedal. Price isn't too unreasonable given the fact that you could easily get 15 years of use out of it as long as you take measures to control any rust underneath.
Yes I agree if it was a 5 speed I may have looked more seriously at it with the super low miles. I have a Friend with a couple of these Saturn wagons and I’m pretty sure one of them has over 150K on it. Seem to run a long time for such a small motor.
As long as you keep oil in them they'll run forever. Mine has 240k and runs great, but the oil control rings are a problem on it. Only other issues are rusted suspension mounts underneath, but that goes for just about anything that gets driven around in the slop up here for 20+ years. It is getting hard to find decent S-Series wagons anymore. Most are beat to death by people. Low mileage examples like this do show up from time to time though.
