I emailed the seller twice before he would send undercarriage photos but he did send them. I am pretty sure this car was on this site for sale by the owner so i knew that price and knew this dealer didnt pay that price for the car. I sent them an offer knowing that it has a rebuilt transmission with 135,000 miles on the odometer plus a good amount of exterior blemishes and damage. I think the offer was fair and i got no response LOL. I guess they think they are going to get 10 grand for it and wont even reepond to anything lower. Man trying to buy an old wagon is harder then i thought. Amyone have an estimate on what this car is worth to see if I am way off. Obviously i would go look at it first and test drive it before any money would of been exchanged. I think $6000 is top dollar for this car with its issues, am I any where close. I think i actually might be a bit too high on my guesstimate. Thanks

There are still plenty of Ford wagons of this vintage out there if you keep searching. With 135k miles this one is worth about $4500 from what I have seen.

Looks like they did a good job of detailing it. Except way too much car shine. First test drive, and that stuff is going to sling all over the side of the car. The interior looks very clean. There are definitely some exterior blems. Asking price is probably twice what these are going for. Hold out for something for sale by owner. You may have to do your own detailing, but your wallet will thank you.

I agree 100% with what ^^^^^that guy^^^^^ said. I would rule this thing out from the start simply because it is at a dealer. These things are not that rare that you cannot find them in good condition for sale from private sellers. Are you searching on craigslist nationwide? I use autotempest for that and have found my last three cars that way. If you are willing to travel to buy a car you can get a good deal. For me I am just trying to avoid all of the rust from Michigan cars.

No i was just doing a 200 mile search from my state on ebay and then i usually do a couple states close to me on Craigslist. I think i might have to do that next year when things calm down and i can do some ROADTRIPS!!! I use a couple of other sites but they barely have anything worth while. This site is also awesome for wagons for sale. I also tried another GM wagon forum but the traffic for ads wasnt as good as here. Im just going to keep looking.

Dealer is looking for a buyer who will make an emotional purchase (hey, that's been me before - plenty of times...)
It does looks pretty good, but does not have low miles (not high, just not low, either......)

I suspect a lot of wagon buyers over-pay based on market conditions. This is NOT a $10k wagon. I'd say $6-7k MAX.

For an example of what you might find for sale, take a look at my Mercury; I paid $2,500 for it from the original owner. It's not perfect and I have more photos showing a few blemishes, you can find them here:

    http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/garage/1990-mercury-grand-marquis.1344/

I got it right after it hit 230k on the odometer. I don't think the rear seats were used by the previous, original owner; he was in his 50s when he bought it and I also doubt little kids had a chance to spill milk in it. The car was never driven in winter and was always garaged which, for a Pennsylvania Station Wagon, is rare.

I concur with the rest - I bought my 85 Colony Park 55,000 orgin miles last Dec for $5250 - which was easily $1500 too much
but I had seen the car 4 years before. So in my case $3500 - $4000 was the legit price the rest was my emotion. For reference
Sotheby's just actioned off the below last month. I spoke to Donny at Sotheby's about the car and they had documentation that the 23000 miles were actuate. I bid to $7,000 and then dropped out. But for a "near" perfect 89 CP at Sotheby's - goes out the door at $9350 - then I would say this Ford is at most a 5g car.
Here is the Colony Park at Sotheby's - you can still pull it up on their website for more Pics. it was pretty

Lot 135 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Colony Park Sold for $9,350

    upload_2017-7-25_21-30-20.png

302 cu. in. EFI V-8 engine with automatic transmission
Purchased new through Vista Ford in Woodland Hills
    Displaying 23,000 miles

This Grand Marquis LS Colony Park is fully loaded with numerous options and amenities. These include power windows, door locks, mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning with auto climate control, trip computer, AM/FM radio with cassette player and Premium Sound, and a two-way tailgate that swings open or folds down.
This is an unrestored original example that has the odometer displaying 23,000 miles. It has been both an Arizona and California car its whole life. Its current Southern California owner has kept it in a private collection for many years and has recently underwent a full brake service.

Yes i used that in my email to the dealer and I knew that they didnt pay the $6900 price for the car. I used that plus the mileage and the rebuilt transmission to come up with my offer price and I still havent gotten a response because they are looking for a sucker to buy it. Thats why this site is so helpful in buying a wagon. Once the dealer knew that I knew the car was for sale a few months earlier for a much lower price the deal wasnt going to happen.

When this car was posted a few months ago, my comments were to pass at $6900.
I would not be leery of a transmission rebuild, when I had my 89 Colony Park, had to have transmission rebuild at 62,000 miles because the TV cable bracket let loose. kept the car another 4 years and finally traded in with 148,000 miles. Before I moved away the family I sold it to put another 100,000 miles on it and only did normal maint. nothing major went wrong.

At the $5000 price tag - there are a lot of late 70's thru the whale wagons of the 90's that are in better shape than this 91.
fixing the trim on this car - would be a royal pain and if sent out to get done royally expensive, replacing would not be easy
I'd walk away and count my blessings

I called on this car last December, before the my 85 came on the market, they did a fair amount of work to it, can't recall exactly what. so they are firm on price, I passed mostly because of the velour interior. Overall I would say this is probably the nicest Colony Park on the market today, certainly at this price

Keep in mind, the full size 90-91 Ford and Mercury models have air bags in the steering wheel and shoulder seat belts in the second row seat.
