Good afternoon all...so I have my 1990 Colony Park that is having an issue, need some pointers from those versed in AOD issues. Been driving it for months, had a great trip from Maine to NYC, all around NYC and home. Drove around a few more days and parked the car for a week. Start it up and it will only engage 1st and second gear. Both of these gears are strong. Does not shift up to 3rd or 4th, but also does not neutral out, continues pulling in 2nd. TV cable seems to be connected. Ran awesome until parked. Drove it around a bit in 2nd, no change. Thanks for any pointers
It sounds like you may have a broken 3rd/4th gear band. Best bet is a shop that is familiar with these transmissions. A shop the does mostly G.M. won't get it right for the shift points. I've run into that before. After dealing with AAMCO here in Toronto, NEVER again! They screwed up a C-4, never mind an AOD!
