Buy it for less than $2K? Wow. Looks pretty good for that money. The photos are surprisingly small for an ebay auction.

You could probably own it for $1500. it looks like a great deal, I suspect the production company just wants it gone.

Expect you are right. Looks like it was used for some period piece show, and no longer needed.

Notice how that late 1970s Cougar looks like it could do a "monster truck" over it? :slap:

Definitions of mid-size certainly changed from 70s to 80s!

Well, the Merc was not a 'mid-size;' it was an 'intermediate-size.' A Monarch would be a '70s mid-size example. And, of course, in '79, 'intermediate' became 'down-sized full-size.'

For 1979, the 4-door Cougar was 219.5 inches in length, while the new Marquis 4-door was 212.3 inches. Quite a difference.

Nice, always loved these. Brings backs great memories of our base white 86 6000. Best sedan we ever had. We actually took most 80s -90s family road trips in the 6000 and left the Safari for camping. It was the low miles on the Safari that helped make me decide to save it. That, and my wife telling me to.
