Boy, I should would love to have the seats out of that one to put in my 85. Were those seats available that year or a transplant from a newer model?
Those were the "leather" seats available for the LS models. Yes, available that year. Still prefer velour.
That is a very nice looking car for the price, and I thought I was the only one that preferred cloth seats.
My seats are vinyl. I thought I remembered hearing that leather wasn't available until later in the 80s. Also, the interior door panels are not out of an 85. Mine have the wood on the upper part of the door and are obviously different.
That's probably because, yours is not an LS trim level or, have the standard cloth seats. My '85 is an LS and has velour seats and door panels. We also had a standard grand marquis, that had base style cloth seats and the wood trim on the door panels. Regardless, you could build these cars how you wanted.
You are mistaken, my 80 had real leather. Ford did have a killer awesome vinyl that 'could" pass for leather but real leather no matter how well you take care of it always shows crack/stretch signs as it ages, it will wear but not tear. (this wagon does not have leather ) Let alone the smell of a leather interior after the doors have been closed for awhile is the dead give away even to a blind man, no air freshener can hide it.. But.... you do have a valid point IMO about the door panels being a 85 model
It would look really nice next to my black '85 Country Squire. Actually, it would put my CS to shame; it needs some serious help. The price certainly seems nice.
The seller just hasn't taken the ad down--I called the seller 15 minutes after he posted the ad and bought it the next day for 3k. I'm currently having some trouble with the engine and have a thread in general automotive tech about it. The AC was converted to 134 in 2003 (currently non-op) and it does have the rear jump seats. Looks nicer in the pics than in real life but I think I'm going to enjoy it immensely once it runs properly.
