https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-ford-f-150-lariat-4x4/ 2100 miles. Chance at a "new" 1985 Truck. As much as new truck cost now, this might be a decent deal. It is at $37k though
As a truck liker, not really a serious truck lover, and as someone who spends too much time on internet auto and auto auction sites I have to say that this F150 is spectacular. The sellers presentation, the condition of the truck, the colors, milege, options, and style are as close to perfect as I have seen. Hope I remember to catch the last 15 minutes of this auction.
But with 2100 miles its not even ready for 1st oil change. Says stored in a garage since owner died soon after buying truck.
I had an extended cab version of this truck. It was awful from a reliability standpoint. The engine was always having one problem or another, the dash electronics kept giving me fits, the fuel economy stunk from a '90s perspective (7-8MPG unloaded or loaded) as it was always belching black smoke. I hated it.
We're in 'overtime'.... $43,750..... Now $44,000 Now $44,250.... Now $44,500.... Now $44,750... Looks like there's at least THREE bidders involved. Now $45,000 Now $45,250...... Flyboy Now $45,500...... Shelby Now $45,750....... Flyboy Now $46,000........ Shelby Now $46,250.... Flyboy Now $46,500 ...... Shelby Now $46,750........Flyboy Now $47,00........... Midd Now $47,250.....Flyboy Now $47,500 ......Shelby Still going. I'm tired. Just go to the auction and watch down at the bottom, with comments. 'Shelby' has just bumped it up to $50k! That DID it. 'Shelby123' won with the $50,000 bid. He said after the bidding was over that he had to pee, so the reason for the knockout punch. He's a Ford dealer, and it will make a nice showroom piece. 1/2 the price of a loaded new one (he says - not true).
I hated it. Thanks elB, your comment gave me my first laugh in the past two days. Nice reality check.
If you have a spare 20 minutes read the comments. there was a pretty good fight between seller and someone who claimed to know real story of engine.
That is nuts. I have always loved this body style of FORD pickup. I owned an 81 shortbox stepside with a 300 six in it for a few years. I loved that thing. That being said, I never expected I would see the day when one of these brought anywhere near that kind of money. Absolutely nuts!
