The interior red's just a bit faded, but not horribly so, and appears to be intact. That 5.0, though carbureted, was a very nice runner, along with the manual gearbox. This is a very good candidate for a concours restoration.

TRX wheels were 390mm. Replacement tires are a small fortune today. Fortunately reproduction TRX style wheels are available in standard 16” size and would make this GT more original. Still, given its appearance the price is good.

I downloaded the 1983 Mustang brochure from this website (semi-NSFW): http://www.motorologist.com/car-brochures/ford/mustang/1983-ford-mustang-brochure/

The TRX wheel/tire combo is only available with the Handling Suspension System on the GT as an option, as the other choice on 15-inch wheels is listed as standard. It was nagging me that the TRX wheels/tires were not a standard item, and reading the brochure reminded me why: they came out originally as a sport suspension combo plate in '79 for both Mustang and Capri.

This wheel was the standard wheel for the '83 MY GT:

Looks like a nice survivor. I'd drive it just the way it is. Take off the T-Tops and feel the wind in my bald spot.

I had a red 83 GT with the TRX wheels. I hated those things. The guy I sold it to promptly jettisoned them in favor of the later 10 hole wheels, much like a previous owner seems to have done with this particular car.

1983 could be either the SROD or the T5 trans. He mentions 4 speed so it must be the SROD. Easy enough to change out to the T5. Overall looks pretty solid. T-Tops are sought after on these. I still think the price is a little high.

That's what negotiation's for--you show where the vehicle lacks, and make a lower counter-offer.

And, the TRX wheel/suspension package was great, but using a non-standard metric diameter killed the desirability of these wheels. The sexiest Fox platform car, IMHO, was a certain Capri where the paint/trim was a black/gold motif, including gold anodizing of the TRX wheels. If I had one of those, I would do whatever it takes to keep those wheels on it.

My 83 had the 4 speed. I wasn't a fan of the way the TRX wheels looked, but I couldn't afford to change them. I also couldn't afford to buy new tires. The guy who I traded it to knew it needed tires when we did the deal, but when he found out how much it was going to cost, he purchased the standard wheels and bought new tires that fit them for less than the cost of the metric tires!

Yeah, whichever idiot though that the metric tires should not be sized to a 14, 15 or 16" wheel exactly (c'mon--390mm? You couldn't add or shave diameter, Michelin?), they ended up costing Michelin a lot of repeat business.

One year only, for that hood scoop. Looks like a great driver. I had a red '84 GT with the TRX wheels. One of the first things I did was replace them with 10 hole wheels. I also found an '83 hood with scoop for it.
