For $800.00 how could you go wrong? These were not that common when new, and most did not have the 2 tone paint, or manual transmission.
That car will nickel and dime you to death. They were cheap when new and 35 years on the parts haven't gotten any easier to come by. Vintage automotive controls in a car that wasn't designed to last long... it would have to run really well with a history for me to go for it.
In 83 it could have a carb or throttle body FI, I don't know what one is better? An overly complicated Computer controlled Carb, or the 1st generation of Throttle Body Fuel injection. Both really sucked after about 50,000 miles when sensors started going bad.
The throttle body, if it has one, had few sensors and was very reliable. I had a 4 cyl. in 1985 with it and put 218k miles on it in 15 years and only replaced one throttle position sensor. Sent the truck to the junk yard still running/driving but there wasn't much left of the body holding it to the frame.
Were I close to that location I would be making a trip to see this one. Neat car. I don’t remember seeing them with that front grill. It would make a cool shop car
That's what I was thinking, Good Parts & Dog Hauler. I think that is a 1 year only front end. I also like the 2 tone paint. Heck you can not find a drivable car in my area for well over the $800 asking price.
I could even live with the horrible early FWD GM Manual transmission shifters
