Looks highly impressive. https://pueblo.craigslist.org/cto/d/1981-oldsmobile-98-regency/6620335589.html
I don't think so. I just find myself wondering what the process must have been like back in 1981 when Dr. and Mrs. 60-year-old were sitting at the salesman's desk at the Olds dealership going through the options list and making selections. When it came to choosing the car's color, how did the conversation go? Wife: "Gee, let's skip all of these nice, interesting reds and greens and blues and even whites and go with the most boring color combination offered---medium brown exterior with a medium brown interior." Husband: "Sounds good to me, dear, just as long as we get cruise control and power seats." Here's the 1981 GM paint chip chart. Look at all the interesting colors offered. I'm guessing the car in question is #61, third from the bottom in the last column.
Paint code 61 was a Cadillac only color...probably the next most boring color, paint code 63 just below....
No, I think it was that the dealer ordered it for stock, and Dr. & Mrs. 60-Year-Old were shopping at night. They saw a color they could agree on, haggled, and bought it, then when they saw it in the light of day the next morning, they were so embarrassed, they just stuck with it and dealt with the shame privately. Or, the two fuddy duddies stuck with that color from their Depression-Era childhoods.
wow it even has all the cardboard trunk liners in place. There may be a few options it doesn't have but I would say this one is loaded. My theory to the color combo is that the owner was an old street racer or drug smuggler, and was used to driving a car that would not be noticed . Or seeing its in Pueblo Colorado its the former owner of the advertising company that used to push all the junk on the TV in the 70's. I remember you had to send a check or Money Order there. I betting on former drug smuggler myself. My wife says I watch to much TV
