Wow - talk about obscure. Right hand drive! 1979 Mitsubishi Galant, JDM Import, RHD 61,000 miles Plymouth... (craigslist.org)
Cool. The Plymouth Sapporo and equivalent Dodge Challenger versions of the Galant were orphan cars that had a run from 1978-'83 in Mopar's lineup and they were a stopgap car between the various "sport" coupes of the 70s and the Dodge Daytona models starting in 1984. This is the Mitsubishi version. However, Mopar also sold other Mitsubishi-made coupes, such as the 80s Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth Conquest (all shared the same model name and was actually a pretty cool looking car), the 90s Plymouth Laser and Eagle Talon models and the Dodge Stealth, which was basically a rebadged Mitsubishi 3000GT or JDM Mitsubishi GTO. However, I don't think I have ever seen a 70s/early 80s JDM model Galant over here though. The interiors on these cars were hit and miss. Some were actually kind of cool looking and others were gaudy and butt ugly. Looking at the pictures for this ad, I also noticed the 'DIATONE' speaker housings on the rear parcel shelf, which was a line of Mitsubishi consumer audio electronics at the time that made stereo receivers, amplifiers and speakers, etc. As an audio enthusiast as well, it's kind of neat to see that in this car.
