Agreed. This is a really wonderful car. The only thing I didn’t care for on the ‘79’s were the Fairmont style rear view Mirrors. Also I don’t think they had the turbine wheel as an option in’79. May have I just don’t remember.

I think this is the same dealer that had that super nice 76-77 Monaco wagon last year in Penna. The name and ad look familiar.

And still as unsold. As nice as that car is, it's appeal as a nearly $10,000 car is to a collector, and there are few of those. To most everyone else, it's a 40-year-old used car that looks about as out-of-place nowadays as an everyday driver as a Model T would. Few people looking for a used car want to buy one this old or spend this much money on something this old.

Everyone on this site lives in the world of wagons and thinks they all are or should be worth a small fortune. But the reality is that they're not. I posted a few weeks ago a piece of an article from Old Cars Weekly about how wagon prices appear to be increasing as interest in wagons grows. I think we have to keep a reality-check in mind and realize that this growth, if it exists at all, will be slow and spotty.

I agree with all, unless you find someone, like us, that truly wants a wagon to drive and live with wagons are a novelty and hit a unique nostalgic nerve in people. But as a novelty it has to be priced as such, after selling my wagon and taking to over 20 potential buyers I think that level is no higher than $6000, after that now you either have to find a collector or a wagon freak.
Certainly applies to wagons from 79 thru 91 - early wagons are now priced toward wagon people and collectors.

Agree with the previous comments regarding our wagon values and relatively low status in the car hobby. The brightside of that situation is that with a few exceptions the values of collector cars seems to be stagnant or even falling as the baby boomer generation ages out. Will take a slow appreciation in price over depreciaton any time. Maybe this is the time for us to buy and enjoy.
