"Drop in a 5.0...." Yeah, right, you have to change the entire crossmember, which means a lot of heavy work to do that. Not to mention they want $3K for it, just a shade under what Dad paid new for his Fairmont 2-door sedan in 1978.
Not a bad looker, with the Mustang alloys and the plaid interior. I'd just leave it as-is and drive it.
If you could source an Aussie cylinder head and separate intake manifold, you could make that 6-cylinder wake right up. Hell, even popping on a TBI/CFI single injector would give it some more guts than that 1-barrel. An underutilized engine if I ever saw one.
Looks nice. $2500,???? I could almost believe 56,000. Check it out and see. If it is why not drive it and enjoy the ride? That would get me to Hardee's and Wal-Mart in style.
Engine looks really clean for 156,000. But that steering wheel is cracked. And the paint looks Maaco or home job.
Yeah, I'd drive it as is. My Fairlane has the 250 I6 and doesn't run bad at all. I've still got my BelAir for hot rod needs.
