Bidding on this Pontiac should be very interesting. It looks perfect and should fetch a premium price.

    oh baby baby

It was nice they included a few pics of shortcomings. On the wheel wells and the bottom of the spare tire place. You're all going googoogawgaw over that interior. Having growing children, I'm seeing bad things happening. Full on seat covers would be a necessity. Reminds me of shirts they had back then, too.

This is a California car, so it has the Olds 403 instead of the Pontiac 400, but I could live with that. Oddly, it's only a 6-seater, and it does not have the lower-body stainless trim along the rockers, bottom of the doors and rear 1/4 panel bottom like ours did, but it has the tilt deluxe wheel my Dad ordered but the factory missed on ours. Plus door lights, and even the power passenger front seat...rare on a Pontiac wagon!
It's cool that on Pontiacs even the roof-racks got wood trim!
Really Really Really Love this one!

Not at all surprising. I wish the seller had not included a BIN - I think he could have gotten more than $8800 (possibly quite a bit more) if the auction had been allowed to play out for its full duration. Wagons like that come along very, very rarely.

Some pics of this Pontiac should be archived in the forum gallery. We may never see another one with that Valencia interior.

Dad sold ours to the neighbor kid in 1986 for $1500. Silver with Valencia interior and it had the Pontiac 400 in it. Wish he'd kept it!!!

Ours had the 3rd row too...but it was just tan vinyl in the 3rd row.

I can still remember my Dad giving me a BIG spanking because the plasti-chrome tape by the wood trim on the door panels was coming loose and on a road trip I pulled it all off one of the rear doors. He was SO MAD AT ME. I think I was 9, had to have been around 1983.

THat '78 Safari was the car the got damaged the weekend we bought it. We picked it up from Ernie Miller Pontiac in Tulsa Ok just before Thanksgiving in 1977. Dad had special-ordered it and was SOOO proud of it.

We drove 8hrs to my grandparents house in Waco Texas for Thanksgiving. My Mom had just had my brother, so here we were, they had a new baby, Dad had a new job, and they had a brand new fancy car. The inlaws made a big deal over everything that day.....and then that night there was an ice storm, and the heavy wooden basketball goal on the big metal pipe at the end of my grandparents driveway blew over and fell on the brand new wagon, denting the hood and roof and shattering the windshield. The car had less than 1000 miles on it. My Dad was SICK, my grandfather was motified, and my Mom cried.
That was not one of happier Thanksgiving trips.

I would love to re-do my interior in that Valencia cloth. Wonder if any of it is still around?

I have been yarding with my Dad since the early 1980's, and have never seen another wagon, other than ours, with that interior, until today. I've seen just a couple sedans, one even had the red Valencia seats, but all were well worn.

If you DID find one, they would bolt right into your car. Would be very cool!

    http://www.smsautofabrics.com/search.php

Try calling or sending a request inquiry to SMS auto fabrics. Their site only allows a computer search of fabrics up to 1975, but they claim to have other years beyond that. Worth a try. I think most of their NOS auto fabrics are around $88 to $95 a yard.

How many yards would I need for 3 seats and 4 door panels?
