Up for auction next Tuesday (January 12) at Mecum in Kissimmee. Says only 23,000 miles. All black, which I've not seen before. Has the factory CB radio. Looks very nice. Unfortunately only four photos. I will be very interested what it sells for, if it sells as there is apparently a reserve. The exterior photos show that they were taken at a show field somewhere. There is info about the car written on the windshield. Apparently he has tried to sell the car at something like Carlisle or Charlotte with no luck. He might be willing to deal. If only I needed one. https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0121-456738/1978-oldsmobile-toronado/
I sat in a late Seventies Pontiac Bonnie that was all black, on a hot Spring day...I thought I'd sat in Mom's oven on BROIL.
Yes, you have to really want a black car. They're also the worst for showing dirt as most dirt and dust, contrary to what you might think, is relatively light in color, so a black car shows everything. White cars are the opposite. They can accumulate quite a bit of dirt before it starts to show.
Uh, no, my dad's '78 Fairmont was that 'bright white' (Titanium White?), and yours truly got to wash it every weekend...Monday night, he'd come home, it showed dirt all along the rockers, behind the wheel wells, I could not keep that bugger clean-ish, no matter what I did. Even waxing didn't help for some reason.
There was a fairly nice triple black rear window wrap around in UPull it here in ABQ that Moparfomco man and I looked at not too long ago. Black indeed is a warm color in the Southwest.
The car just cross the block at Mecum. The reserve came off when the bids reached about $15,000, and the car was hammered sold at $19,500. A very good price, I think, for the seller.
