1978 Ford LTD Country Squire for sale on BaT Auctions - ending November 8 (Lot #126,826) | Bring a Trailer Wow Black with red interior. Sharp. Have to check in on the BAT" vacation/ family truckster" comments.
I literally counted ONE option on this wagon AM/FM radio. Talk about bare bones...... Just sayin'.....
No Family Truckster comment (YET), but one person did mention Holiday Road. Theme song from the movie. "Nov 1 at 7:29 PM pwregan '"do i hear Holiday road playing faintly?"'
As to options, ALSO has: - 400 cubic-inch V8 vs the standard 2-barrel 351 - Cruise control - Tilt steering wheel - Air Conditioning
I was going to point out additional options, but Krash beat me to it. Sharp. At least I can add the left door remote mirror to the list. Note that the right door mirror is a non-remote, aftermarket piece. I don't think the car was originally equipped with an AM/FM stereo. This radio came standard with 4 speakers, and you'll note there are no speakers in the doors. Also, the stereo radio has balance and fader controls integrated into the head unit, while there is some sort of speaker control on the lower dash. My conclusion is that this car had either an AM or and AM/FM Mono unit and the optional rear seat speakers. I've owned three 1970 Country Squires and, although they had different engines, each was otherwise similarly equipped with automatic, power steering, air, AM radio (no rear speaker), and remote left door mirror. It's interesting -- and to me it's telling of how things changed from one end of the decade to the other -- that this car is considered a near stripper -- for a Country Squire, that is --while my '70s, which had slightly fewer options, would have been considered nicely equipped for their year. It looks like a good, honest, preserved car (what my wife calls a street survivor), that's been used but not abused and taken care of but not coddled. I'd be surprised if it hits $20K, but I won't be if it tops $10K.
