Very nice condition and probably a fair price. The problem with these cars is that they are just not sexy. Boxy. Plain styling. In-line 6 engine. Probably takes 20 minutes to reach 60 mph. Nothing there that stirs the emotions. The classic grocery-getter.

People say that these cars make great first cars for high-schoolers. Probably so, but name me one teenager today who would be caught dead in one of these.

Nothing personal. Just my reaction to these cars. My wife's father owned both '79 and '81 Ford Fairmont sedans, and I just remember these cars as being as plain-Jane as you could get.

    If I'm walking, yes. :)

I wouldn't buy one unless it was a bargain. But that wagon is far from a Plain-Jane to me.

It appears to be in good shape but they would be lucky to get $1500 for this one with that mileage.
People buy them to bolt on Mustang parts and go fast.

It's not the mileage that would scare me off; it's the rust at the bottom of the doors.

It may be stodgy, but that 200 I-6 will still squeeze balls. I took my '78 zero to fifty in about 9 seconds in second gear only. 7 main bearings, and I've redlined mine that I had a couple times simply because it had a 3-speed. Never got around to modding it, then gave it to my brother.

The ad states EXCELLENT CONDITION. Did he not see the rust in the pictures or the torn front seat or the condition of the engine compartment? Maybe I expect to much? I would say GOOD condition but far from EXCELLENT. Tom

Too us buyers it's GOOD. To the seller with big ideas it's EXCELLENT. Which makes me wonder sometimes why an EXCELLENT vehicle is for sale.:slap:
