OK -it's got 4 days to go. Bid right now is around $12,300. What do you think it will end up selling for?
    Post your guess.

    My guess is around $14.5K

It does not even have the 3rd row seating, tilt wheel, rear defroster or power windows. Sure its clean and like new, but come on, its plane jane.

Well....that is one clean wagon. I have to say, at the expense of getting flamed, I don't believe the miles after a cursory look. Still, it's a nice wagon. Got roll ups though. LOL I'd take it anyway though.

    OK....KK...my guess is $16,232.00

I agree with BlackFoot, it really is a plain jane. No rear air deflector, no 460 cid engine, no bumper group, no side light turn signals, no door side protection group (anti door ding guards) not much other than the squire package, 400 sid up grade, roof rack, delay wipers, cruise, and split "Duraweave" front bench.

Also, SilverFox, I think your right on the mileage, I don't think 4,000 miles is right. There is TOO much rust and oil in the engine area, the steering spokes have ware marks, and under the left tail lamp, there looks to be marks of rusty water.

But I am 35 min away from Huntley, IL. I have a few days off, I might just check it out one on one for the heck of it.

Yeah -not enough equipment to my liking, either.

That would be cool if you happen to get close to that wagon and stop in to see it, wagnut. Especially since you own these kinds of wagons and know them better than most. I bought cars at auctions for years and, in my opinion, that wagon has more miles than 4K for sure. And the others are right....frankly, I would rather have a really well cared for 90K mile 77 or 78 wagon like this but loaded to the gills with a 460 in it. It's still a nice wagon but I just hate it when a dealer misrepresents a car just to make a few extra bucks. That is one of the things I hate most.

There is no way that motor only has 4K on it, no damn possible way! Look at the grime, rust and paint missing on the valve covers. The odometer digits do not line up either, it has been rolled over once. Someone had really taken care of the car, but there are too many signs of high miles to fool any true car guy. Those documents do not prove a damn thing to me either, too easy to forge for a dealer that has been in the biz for years. I am calling BS on the whole thing.

:biglaugh::biglaugh::clap::clap::rofl2::rofl2: We sure turn on a car quick! It's too funny!
I'm the same way! Total skeptic. Before we're done with this thing, it will be ready for the crusher!
72 King and I have already elevated that poor '73 CS to the rare and precious status, and this poor dog gets the scorn. We are a funny bunch. :slap: :rofl2::rofl2:

LMAO, I thought the same about the claimed low milage after seeing the pics of the engine.....I'd believe 40 thousand miles on well taken care of car....that needs more options

Nice car none the less and as for the highest bid, I'll guess it's way more than I'd be able to aFord:D

 There is no way that looks like a 30yr old 104,000 mile engine. I have a couple of '78s here for comparison!

Looks like the real deal to me. I think that the bidding has stopped though. Even though it's in excellent condition, it's not a very popular vintage. I'd bet the price doesn't go up to more than $12,500.

Its really pushing my curiosity, I really don't see it would be 4k miles. I had a '75 Lincoln Mark V with that same red and had the same steering wheel with 36k original miles. The spokes on the Lincoln where not even worn like the picture (see the silver band between the red and wood tone piece?) Its worn there, it takes more than 4k miles.......

As for the tires, people are weird, someone could have had a set of older radials hanging around. ALSO at 4k, why dose it not have the original 1978 FoMoCo plug wires and cap?

Nice partial wipe down of the plug wires.

Love the fresh paint(not to mention the paint over the crap they never cleaned off it) on the breather cover, yet the snorkel is all rusty and dirty. Check that power steering punp, the 169K one in my 92 RMW is cleaner then that. (y)

Really nice looking 4K master cylinder cover

This right here just speaks to me of BS. Who better then a dealer to commit fraud?
"This was Hetland-Cooks (Ford Dealership's Owner) Personal Demonstrator!!"

Check how nice the digits all line up for only haveing 4K "original" miles.

Whats up with the drivers floor carpet in this pic? Looks like its all tore up?

It might not be a 104K mile car, but its not too far from it under the hood. Sure way to tell, pull the dipstick. No matter what, the oil would not even be colored with the claims of only 4k miles on it. Even if its the original 1978 oil and never changed, it will be crystal clear. I still say it has 104K miles and someone went through a buttload of NOS parts and time to clean it up. If they would have put the effort under the hood, then it would have passed their fraudulent attempts.
