Just saw this. Unusual color in that you don't see the bright red very often. At least, I haven't. Plus, I like the red interior/white seat combination, again probably rarely ordered. Asking $8000, and claims only 32,000 miles. Car certainly looks nice. Wish he had a few more photos. https://www.hemmings.com/classified...dium=cpc&utm_campaign=autotempest_classifieds He committed the unpardonable sin of not putting a towel over the license plates. Like my '77, this one has dual exhaust. It's not in the '77 Dealer Album, but I've seen enough of these with it that it must have been a factory option added after the model year started.
Here is a local Albuquerque Toronado. Should be rustfree. I would bet you could get it cheap. https://www.facebook.com/marketplac...e=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post
Interesting. It's a bit rough around the edges, and, for a $4500 asking price, it should run. But they don't want to "mess with it." Understandable, but then understand that you might get more like $2500 instead of $4500. He says it ran two years ago, which isn't all that long ago, so maybe it wouldn't take much to get it going again. I'd possibly be interested if it were an XS. I got a headache looking at all the odd-angle photos, so I went ahead and straightened some of them. I love this photo. Yes, you've demonstrated that the hood and the trunk actually open. Now how about showing us a view OF the trunk and OF the engine??? While you're at it, how about washing the thing? This photo shows that the grille is damaged. That's an odd thing. My estimate of the value of this car keeps going down. The interior is clean, which you'd expect for a 30,000 mile car. The crappily-wrapped steering wheel doesn't bode well for the condition of that. Looks like the seats could use a good vacuuming. Looks like the fender extensions have been replaced but not painted. How about getting the brush off the left rear fender before snapping the photo? Does this guy want to sell this car or not?
Hey, yer preaching to the choir. I just posted it as a local counterpoint. Yes, you could walk away with it for $2500, and it wouldn't take much to clean up and daily it here in ABQ year round. What do you get for $2500 anymore? Not much.....so if you liked these things, you'd probably be ahead. I'm pretty handy, so I can fix a lot of little foibles and it'd make it that much cheaper.
I wasn't criticizing you. I appreciate your posting the ad. What I'm criticizing is the ad itself and how poor it is. I'm prone to do such things. A nice car for sale is not well served if the person selling it does a poor job of promoting it. This car certainly has issues, and the seller could have done more to clean the car up, take more and better photos, and overall do right by the car in his advertisement of it.
