Many more pics please. Claimed 26k miles with the 400 V8. https://eastidaho.craigslist.org/cto/d/1976-pontiac-lemansoriginal/6544628261.html
His problem is that it's a four-door. He's way over the top on the price. $3,000 is more like it. Good luck to him.
The sheet he shows, says it's a Poncho 400...honestly, if he's offering it to someone who wants to collect it, odds are they would call BS as soon as they saw a Chev engine under that hood.
Even the appraisers letter says "Pontiac 400" when its obviously(from alternator and AC compressor locations) a small block Chevy.
I had to check another Pontiac ad, and yes, Pontiac has the alternator on the driver's side, same as Olds, while Chevrolet and Buick have them on the passenger side. So yeah, the Expert is a dolt/crook/both.
The Chevy engine is unusual for a 76 Pontiac A-Body but from VIN # The seller has listed as the "Serial #" we find its probably original due to the car being assembled in Canada. My Brochure for 1976 Pontiac's only lists the 305 V8 as available in Ventura, & Firebird models. It only lists the Chevy 250 I-6, Olds 260 V-8, or Pontiac 350, 400, or 455 V-8's as the only available engines in the Pontiac A-bodies. So I wonder if the car was originally sold in Canada? The "U" as the 5th letter of the VIN means it came from the factory with a Chevy 305 under the hood, I wonder were they are getting "Pontiac 400" from? VIN on "experts" paperwork is 2G29U61501748 2 = Pontiac G = Model code Grans Lemans 29 = Body Style 4 door Sedan U = 2bbl Chevy 305 V8 (Canadian Built Car explains the Chevy Engine) 6 = Model Year 1976 1 = Plant Oshawa Ontario Canada And as previously stated the A/C compressor and Alt locations all point to a Chevy V8 there also. 501748 = Secquence Number
