Allegedly owned by John Wayne. It is loaded up. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/pontiac/grand_safari/1660390.html
...A raised front roof section. This one seems to incorporate a 'vista roof' off of a earlier GM wagon. Supposedly, John Wayne 'needed' to have his station wagons modified because he liked to be able to wear his cowboy hat when driving. There have been at least a couple of them. (I remember seeing a '69 (?) Bonneville in a Vegas car museum many years back.) And actually, I don't really believe all of this story. Maybe the Duke did have one built (by Barris?), but I get the distinct feeling that this was a gimmick mostly used by PR people, or maybe even some car collector people to attract interest for a museum. He could have just bought a Suburban or a van..........
I'm still looking for documentation on this 1975, but he did appear to like Pontiac wagons. Here's a 1972.
