    Always wondered why Ford did not put wood grain around the instrument cluster on these. The painted plastic looks cheap (to me).

    A 460 that gets 16 MPG...how many cylinders did they deactivate?

    Why absolutely none of course. All you need are headers, an H-pipe, and an Edelbrock 1406 with the proper jets and metering rods and you should be able to get 35-40 mpg from a '78 T-Bird with a 400. Noooo problem.

    On that road test of a 76, they got 12.6 on the highway, 10 in the city with the A/C on.
