Something fishy about this ad:

My wife has everything ready to go for the car, and will only need your information filled in, once the sale is completed, to finalize the ownership. "

Titling is universal? So the seller's wife is going to complete all the U.S. customs importation paperwork for the U.S. buyer? And obtain a U.S. title for any one of the 50 states for this Alberta car? Hmmm ...

Procedure is very important to us and we have a perfect little system that has proven very simple and effective in making everyone happy.

It goes as follows:

• Immediately following the sale, I will ask for your buyer’s information.
• My wife will fill in all the paperwork and title transfer.
• Completed paperwork will be scanned and sent to you.
• Once received, you validate the information as being correct, and confirm.
• Then, my wife sends the banking transfer information. You’ll have 48 hours to go to your bank and make a transfer. (We understand oftentimes it takes more than 48 hours for transfer to go through, and that’s alright).
• After payment is received, she gets to work arranging transportation/delivery.

Simple as that.


Now, just so that everyone is aware, we are not willing to deviate from our little system. We deviated twice, and been defrauded twice. If, for any reason, this does not work for you, we’ll assume that something isn’t “right” anyway.

So the buyer is going to have to use the seller's transportation/delivery service for an extra $1,500 - $2,000. But what if you just want to drive up to Calgary, take possession and drive home? Nope, the seller isn't OK with that.

Maybe their "little system" works, but having imported two vehicles into Canada from the U.S., I have some serious doubts about what they're saying here. Maybe it's all legit. But buyer beware, as they say.

But the car is super nice.

 

Just makes me think that somebody's riding in the back...........in a black box.

 

Yes the seller is being a little naive stating titling is universal. For example you can't title that car in California without the DMV or a Police officer seeing the car and title in person and verifying that they match each other. I'm sure other states are similar.

Also why the private listing. Never felt comfortable buying from an eBay seller who does that.
