Exceptional condition for what was for many a throwaway car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-Chevrolet-Other-GT-/331766638384?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Amazing to see one without a V8, roll cage and tubbed rear. They were notorious for overheating and after they badly overheated once the engines were trash. People just junked them, you couldn't sell or give them away.
I had 18 of them and never had a problem with head gaskets EVER! On the Vega 4 cyl. The problem was the engine block itself(aluminum). The newer ones were wayyyyy better but 71-73 were lucky if they made it 50,000 miles. The cyls would score horribly and smoke like a momma!
Not all year GT's got the upgraded interior Standard, this car has the base interior seat and all. I think the seats and door panels you are thinking of were optional on all Vega's by 74. I agree I never had an issue with head gaskets, oil Burning and overheating YES YES YES, but never a head gasket. But I only owned 2 of the 2.3 OHC engines. The other 4-cylinder cars I had were 2.5 Iron Duke Powered. They had camshaft and timing gear issues, but never burned oil or overheated, I did crack a head once.
I don't think I ever saw one without the better inside pieces. I have built my own GT's before always used the goodies lol. there was 1-2 years that they had a 130 MPH speedo. That's the dash I always liked to use
I agree the seller should have taken that money, I only see the better looking (but even more rust prone) original 71-73 Vegas going for more than what that was bid up to.
