Super rare wagon for 1973. https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/cto/d/crown-point-73-mercury-monterey-wagon/6955114920.html
That bare bones car with cruise control. These oddities crack me up. And the level at which you can pick and choose your options back then. Especially compared to today when your interior choice on a LOT of cars are “any color you want! ... as long as it’s black!” ... or maybe gray. But to me they are kissing cousins.
Yeah oddly optioned. AM-FM 8 track, digital clock, and intermittent wipers. And of course cruise. Also think at some point the back bumper was probably replaced as the front bumper has deluxe bumper group with guards and trim. Back bumper would have most likely been the same.
Obviously a repaint with the red top. But I’d does look clean and has DFRS. I would check for rust given its location, otherwise seems like a deal.
Also with the RH remote mirror. Probably had “convenience” group. Which would also probably have had a RH visor vanity mirror. Also would assume wheel opening molding, and rocker molding never made its way back to this car After the repaint.
Assuming it does not have rust issues. At this price I would have the roof resprayed to match the lower body and call it a day.
I can understand the lack of power windows. They were viewed by some as troublesome. A friend, who's father had this view, nearly ordered a fully loaded '76 Cutlass with crank windows. I managed to talk some sense into him. That Merc looks decent enough and the price seems fair unless surprises are lurking. I'm diggin' the wheels. What are they? Not Raders
