Sure looks like it could be the same car. The valve covers sure got scratched/peeled up a lot since then though which is strange. In the previous auction they look freshly painted, but on this new auction they look chipped up.

I actually like the way it looked before with the factory wheels (I think they are factory) and that color.

Yes, factory original turbine wheels have been replaced. I like the
    originals better as well. :yup:

No Rally Gauges, just idiot lights? That's odd for such a well-optioned car. Sharp!!

I agree, the door jams and inner fenders suggest this car was still originally red, even if it were a repainted.

Think you're right. The yellow one does not have the front bumper guards that this burgundy one has. But what are the odds of two of these incredibly rare wagons that appear to be optioned identically?

Agreed, and apparently true of both of them since it now seems they are not the same car!

Anyone know if bucket seats and console were optional on the Malibu wagons for 1973? :anyone: I see no mention of it in the brochure.

Yes, they were available on the SS wagon. Not only that, I think they also swiveled. Here's what they looked like in the Monte Carlo, which was off the same platform:

Yep I think we have established that it is not the same car ok, but funny when I looked back at the expired ebay listing, it mentioned that the bumper guards were available with this one still!

But the main featured difference between this beige brown one and the red silver one on ebay now is the beige one had 79k miles (no mention of original miles but could quite easily be), while the red one has a claimed original 66K miles.

Anyway, why didn't anyone think to ask Composite1?

Anyhoo, what are the chances of such a rare beast come up twice in such a short space of time??? Well if there was less than 200 73 SS 454 Malibu wagons made (claim made by the seller) then this makes it now less than 1 in 100 some 40 years later, making this a very rare little GM indeed.

And to quote some wise words from the great prophet Krash Kadillic circa 2010-06-30, "In my opinion, in a few years, these are going to be extremely valueable", well yep couldn't agree more :yup:
