I finally found a great wagon. 351C, PS, PB and factory AC, no rust and super nice interior. But I find myself in need of the weatherstripping and seals for the tailgate and tailgate window. I think there are four pcs. The upper channel the windows rolls up in, the inner and outer lip seals on the door and the lower seal that mounts to the body. I have found one of these parts at Steel. However I have been trying to find the channel and lip seals. I have called or searched JC Whitney, Green Sales, Steel Rubber, Ecklers, Restoration Specialities, Obsolete & Classic Auto and NOS Parts LTD.

Does anyone have suggestions of where might have these parts or if any other pieces might fit from a more common vehicle like a Bronco. Restoration Specialties said they might be able to make it from a sample.

    Thanks. Jim

    Congrats!
    Sounds like a nice car.
I don't have any answers as far as your parts & pieces question, but this is a great place to find the answers you seek.
Someone will know and chime in.

    Hi Jim,

I had no luck for mine when I tried to find replacements. Not sure if the torino's are the same, the fairlane has aluminium trim along the top of the tailgate. I was able to find some rubber extrusion that fitted pretty much fitted and did the job. Not perfect, but better than what was in play at the time.

This pic is a bit hard to understand, but if you look at it in reference to your own tailgate, it should make sense. I sealed/glued the P section extrusion to the aluminium trim (the original was an L shape metal, coated in rubber) and it worked pretty well. The picture shows the orientation of the P section rubber, and the link shows the kind of product I used.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Cheers

You can also try Green Sales Co. in Ohio; they originally specialized in Ford/Lincoln/Mercury trim pieces, and have branched out into all manner of obsolete Blue Oval parts.

    Hey Jim,

Glad you found the body to tailgate rubber, That's one of the few pieces I have been able to track down for mine. They look quite similar from what I can see, at least in the cargo area (the fixed side windows, tailgate) Looks like Ford might have carried on that rear shape from 66 through to at least the 71 like yours.

It kind of opens up the hunting for spare parts perhaps.

    Cheers
