Hello, I am Tim from Traverse City, Michigan; I have recently bought a new project car for my girlfriend and I to put back on the road as a weekend crusier. I'm usually building figure 8 race cars so this was a neat change of pace as I came across a 71 Chevy Bel-air Townsman wagon barn-find. Originally a Florida car, it has been in one-family all it's life and was driven to Michigan in 1994 after the original owner passed away and kept in the garage ever since, getting out a day or two each year to stretch its legs. About three years ago I saw it sitting in front of the garage outside as it was moved out for more storage space indoors. I finally one day left a note on the front door and got a call back from the lady who owned it, and discussed if it was for sale. About a year later I arrived with my trailer and bought it, had some friends help get it primed up and fired her up and drove it on the trailer for its ride home. It will be some work to get it road ready, but its a very clean car for being in Michigan, needing a paint job and some TLC, it shall be a nice show car in the years to come.
Welcome! Your year of find is difficult to repair for the tailgate. The rest, easy finding and a wonderful platform. Keep it simple and enjoy!
