My Pontiac also has the 'planking' type wood grain material, but the Torino's seems to be a bit darker - more towards the dark oak or light walnut end of the spectrum, while mine appears more 'medium oak' - ish.

Also questioning his description of the engine being a '351C'. It was always my belief that the 2-barrel 351's were 'W' (Windsor plant) engines, while the 351 'C' (Cleveland plant) engines were more for the performance applications - at least in the early 70's. The brochure for the '70 Torinos lists the 250 hp 2-barrel 351 as having a 9.5:1 compression ratio, regular fuel. The 4-barrel 351 offered produced 300 hp at a 11.0:1 compression ratio and required premium fuel. The brochure didn't specify what type 'W' or 'C' each engine was.

They had 2 and 4bbl versions of the 351C thru the cars then.

Ended at $9210, reserve not met.
A source I trust says the car should be worth about $5K considering what it might need mechanically.
I was very surprised by how high the bidding went. In fact, I wondered how "sincere" some of the bids were.

As for the options, they aren't really that low, relatively speaking. The car was optioned about average (PS, PB, AT, AC, AM, remote mirror) for this model and this period. Very few of these had 429s, and I don't think many even had the 4V version of the 351C. And I've never seen one in person that had power windows or seats or even the AM/FM stereo. I can't tell from the pics if it even has rear door dome light switches (I believe these were optional on this model). I note that it does have the
dealer-option "dummy" remote right door mirror.

I'm pretty sure that options -- apart from more powerful engines -- are less important to '70/'71 Torino fanatics than they are to the readers of this forum.

I'd like to see it relisted, but I'm guessing bidding will surpass what I could afford to pay for it.

The condition, while good, and the options level are simply not high enough to justify the asking price. It would have to be in much better condition or have at least the 4V version of the 351 or possibly one of the 429s, so as to appeal to the go-fast crowd in order to approach $14.5K.

I wonder how the seller figures he can score this kind of scratch with a local craigslist when he couldn't get a bid to break $10K with worldwide reach on ebay. Of course I can't figure the $9200 high ebay bid, and I want one of these.
